TA: Hey Travis! I am great, it’s been a really busy last few days since the video came out, but I’m enjoying it. Well, I’ve been writing and producing since I was younger, more officially the last two years under my partner Josh La Rock and my production label Feel Free. Music is our passion, can’t survive a day without it.
ME: Where are you from?
TA: Louisville & Lexington, KY are homebase, but I am temporarily residing in Cincinnati, OH
ME: What do you like to do in your spare time?
TA: Music, Photography, Writing, Catching up on the news, and brainstorming. There’s nothing like those eureka moments.
ME: What made you want to become a singer?
TA: I think that, when my album starts to roll out in full, that I won’t be so much defined as a singer, as just a general pop artist. I think I’ve got a diverse sound, and in no way am I striving to be known as a vocalist, just someone who’s trying to share his message through the music. Whether I sing it, or I am just playing with melodies, it’s got a purpose that’s bigger than just the song.
ME: What genre do you like to sing best?
TA: Pop seems to be in a transitional stage. Usher is calling it “Revolutionary Pop”, but I consider mine modern or 808′s pop. It’s like upbeat pop dance songs, without the disco, and more of the Kanye West influence.
ME: Who would you like to work with on a song?
TA: Kanye West, Stevie Wonder, Andre 3000, Dom Kennedy, Diggy Simmons, and plenty more
ME: Who inspired you to start doing music?
TA: Artists like Kanye, Janelle Monae, The Dream, who really push boundaries, made me want to hop in as an artist. I look at cats like Kid Cudi who just confuse the hell out of people genre-wise, and I was like, “I think I am built to do that. That’s how I feel about the concept of genres. They’re to be broken.”
ME: If you were to say you were mutual with a singer who would it be?
TA: This is tough, because my sound varies so much throughout my album. I definately get alot of inspiration from Yeezy, David Guetta, The Dream, Robin Thicke, Miami Horror, and more…
ME: Where do you see yourself in the next 5 years?
TA: Hopefully I am performing somewhere around the country, connecting with fans, but who knows, I’d be extremely happy just producing and writing for other artists. I just like sharing my heart.
TA: Yes, “Tigers & Girls” is the debut album due out late spring/early summer depending on label situations. I would really like to offer it for free, but I am not sure exactly what’s going to happen in the next few months. So it’s time to wait and see. The next single after ”Wake Up” is “Heaven Only Knows,” and i am working on shooting the video for that soon, possibly in the Middle East, or Miami. It’s a song about a girl not understanding how dope she is, and I just can’t seem to explain it, “Heaven Only Knows.”
ME: Ok here are some of the fun questions. What’s your favorite tv show?
TA: The Office is better than any show in the world. And I love Mad Men, its inspiring.
ME: What’s your favorite movie?
TA: Black Swan, Benjamin Button, Neverending Story are up there.
ME: What’s your favorite food?
TA: Who doesn’t like New York Style Pizza? But, I could eat Nutella out of the jar daily. Nothing beats it.
ME: Twitter or Facebook?
TA: That’s though! I love them both, I go through phases of them both for sure. One day I am loving Twitter, the next day my Facebook is jumping. They both function good in different ways. I am not ready for any other site to start up.
ME: Iphone or droid?
TA: I actually use the Android system, however, I keep the new iPod with me at all times, so its almost like I use both. But I wouldn’t trade my Android phone in for anything. It’s pretty dope.
ME: Thank you for doing this interview. Do you have any last words to say?
TA: Peace and Power to all the dreamers and innovators out there. Never stop pushing on for your dream.
